A shocking picture appeared on the TV screens Just before the toss, showing Rohit knocking the ball as part of a customary pre-game hitting routine. But what was odd about those images was that Rohit was going about his business while his left knee was unusually black.

In the third T20I match on Tuesday at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, India experimented. To prevent the sweep, South Africa defeated India with ease by a score of 49 runs in the final match.

The Indian cricket team finished their journey to the T20 World Cup by sweeping both of their home T20I series against Australia and South Africa by scores of 2-1. The penultimate T20I between India and Pakistan before they face Pakistan on October 23 did not go quite as well as they would have liked—they lost by 49 runs—but there were still many things to take away from the six T20Is.

The Indian squad learned the most from Suryakumar Yadav’s outstanding batting performance, KL Rahul’s resurgence, and Virat Kohli’s resumption to his previous form. But right now, bowling is the only thing that worries Rohit Sharma and company. India’s bowling, once a formidable force in international cricket, has been thoroughly dismantled by the batsmen of the opposition.

Rohit Sharma left knee was unusually black:

Just before the toss, a startling sight appeared on the broadcast screens, showing Rohit knocking the ball as part of a customary pre-game hitting routine. But the odd thing about those images was that Rohit’s left knee was a peculiar shade of black as he went about his business.

It could not even be an injured knee or even protective padding. The black spot was visible as Rohit turned around, showing that the India captain may have applied an ointment.

Two days after the current home T20I series against South Africa ends, on October 6, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team will depart for Australia, where they will hold a training camp in preparation for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup.
