SA vs BAN: Bangladesh Playing XI vs South Africa (Predicted), ICC T20 World Cup 2022.  South Africa will meet Bangladesh on Thursday 27th October 2022 at Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG, Sydney, Australia in the 22nd match-the 10th Super 12 match. Bangladesh won against the Netherlands on a date while the Proteas will play against Zimbabwe on 24th October before taking on Bangladesh.

Bangladesh scored 144/8 against the Netherlands who have lost all wickets for 135 runs. Bangladesh won by 9 runs against the spirited Netherlands. Netherlands’ Colin Ackermann waged a lone battle as he scored 62 off 48 balls before being a victim of Taskin Ahmed. Bangladesh’s Afif Hossain scored 38 while Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 25 and Mosaddek Hossain scored an unbeaten 20.

The in-form Dutch side bowled well for the majority of Bangladesh’s innings and some solid catching in the field meant the Asian side could only muster 144/8 from their 20 overs at Bellerive Oval.  Seamers Paul van Meekeren (2/21) and Bas de Leede (2/19) picked up two wickets apiece. Taskin Ahmed has picked 4 scalps for 25 and Hasan Mahmud has claimed 2 scalps for 15.

After being 31/4 in the Powerplay one would say it was quite a close game. But apart from Colin Ackerman and a few lusty blows from Paul van Meekeren, there were hardly any contributions. Bangladesh just kept picking wickets throughout the innings as the Netherlands did in the first innings.

Bangladesh 144 for 8 (Afif 38, van Meekeren 2-21, de Leede 2-29) beat Netherlands 135 (Ackermann 62, Taskin 4-25, Mahmud 2-15) by 9 runs

South Africa’s second warm-up game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain. Bangladesh lost against Afghanistan by 62 runs in their first warm-up game. Afghanistan, led by Mohammad Nabi had beaten Bangladesh in their first warm-up match on Oct. 17.

Ibrahim Zadran top-scored for them, while Mohammad Nabi’s cameo helped the Afghans post a competitive total. Afghanistan bowlers put on an impressive show with the ball as they scripted a 62-run win over Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup Warm-up match.

Chasing a total of 161, Bangladesh just managed to score 98 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the match. Earlier, skipper Mohammad Nabi slammed a quickfire 41 off just 17 balls as he helped his team post 160 on board. After opting to bat first Afghanistan did a good job with the bat with Ibrahim Zadran top-scoring with the bat by scoring 46 off 39 balls. Fazalhaq Farooqi picked up three wickets as Bangladesh failed to even cross 100 in their innings.

Afghanistan 160/7  (Ibrahim Zadran 46, Mohammad Nabi 41*, Taskin Ahmed 3/30) beat Bangladesh 98/9 (Mosaddek Hossain 29, Fazalhaq Farooqi 3/42) by 62 runs.

Bangladesh and South Africa are two nations that have been impressive in international cricket. However, both countries are yet to win the ICC World Cup. Bangladesh have shown considerable improvement in the cricket world over the last decade, whereas the Proteas are rising up again after the retirement of their legends.

Shakib Al Hasan may have been quiet with the ball (5 wickets in 10 T20Is) in 2022, but he has been making amends with the bat. He has scored 305 runs at an impressive average of 34, including 3 fifties. Afif Hossain has scored 405 runs at an average of 31 in 2022. Mosaddek Hossain’s transition into an off-spinner has been spectacular in 2022. He has taken 11 wickets including the best figures of 5 for 20 in 12 games.

Topping the batting chart for Bangladesh is Litton Das. In 14 games in 2022, he has collected 417 runs including 3 fifties and 2 thirties. Although he will be playing T20Is for the first time in Australia, the fact that he did well in New Zealand must boost his confidence.

Litton Das, the right-handed opening keeper hasn’t got a good average in T20Is but will play in the 2022 T20I World Cup in the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal. He had a poor 2021 T20I World Cup where he managed only 133 runs averaging 16.63 in 8 T20Is.

He didn’t play in the Asia Cup 2022. He was 5th highest run-getter in the New Zealand tri-series and Bangladesh’s 2nd with 142 runs in 4 T20Is averaging 35.5 at a strike rate of 142. He scored only 9 against the Netherlands.

Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 25 against the Netherlands after opening the batting with Soumya Sarkar. The opener averages 18.55 after playing 12 T20Is. His highest is 40 against Pakistan in a 2021 bilateral series. He managed only 56 averaging 18.67 in the New Zealand Tri Series.

Soumya Sarkar scored 14 off as many balls against the Netherlands. The 29-year-old had a poor 2021 T20 World Cup where he managed only 27 runs in 4 innings averaging 6.75. He averaged 13.5 in New Zealand tri-series playing 2 T20Is but is playing due to Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim’s retirement from T20Is. He has also experience playing 68 T20Is.

Shakib Al Hasan

The veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is nearing the end of his illustrious career and would lead the team in the 2022 T20I World Cup. He played only 2 games in Asia Cup 2022 where he scored 35 runs. Bangladesh T20I captain returned to the playing eleven against New Zealand in the tri-series as he was given a rest in the first match against Pakistan.

The Bangladesh skipper, who missed the first game after arriving late in Christchurch, batted at the number seven position to score 16 off 16 balls. He followed it up with 70 against New Zealand and 68 against Pakistan to emerge as Bangladesh’s leading run-getter in the tri-series with 154 runs averaging 51.33 in 3 T20Is. He scored only 7 against the Netherlands but picked 1/32 in 4 overs.

Bangladesh batter Afif Hossain said that he likes to thrive under pressure. The left-hander earned the Player of the Match award in the first T20I between the Bangladesh Tigers and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 25 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh beat the hosts by seven runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Afif Hossain scored an unbeaten career-best 77 off 55 with seven fours and three sixes. Moreover, he was involved in an unbeaten 81-run partnership with stand-in skipper Nurul Hasan for the sixth wicket after Bangladesh was reduced to 77 for five in 11 overs.

Afif Hossain managed 64 runs in 4 T20Is averaging 16 in the recently concluded New Zealand tri-series. He top-scored with 38 off 27 balls against the Netherlands hitting 2 fours and as many sixes.

Yasir Ali

Yasir Ali’s late assault came a little too late for Bangladesh as they suffered a 21-run defeat against Pakistan in the opening match of the T20 tri-series at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Friday.

The Tigers ended up on 146-8 in their 20 overs mainly thanks to Yasir Ali, who hit five fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 42 off 21 balls that came after a string of disappointing scores from the other batters. He managed 56 runs in 4 T20Is averaging 18.67 in the New Zealand tri-series. He scored only 3 runs against the Netherlands.

Mosaddek Hossain

Mosaddek Hossain played a key role with both bat and ball as Bangladesh beat the United Arab Emirates by 32 runs in Dubai to sweep the two-match T20I series. The batting form of Mosaddek Hossain was the only bright spot in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament and they will be hoping he can carry his form to Australia.

He scored 72 runs in 2 T20Is in Asia Cup 2022 including a 48* while he scored 27 and picked 2/8 in the 2nd T20I against UAE. He didn’t perform up to expectations in the New Zealand tri-series. He scored a quick cameo off an unbeaten 20 from 12 balls against the Netherlands.

Nurul Hasan

Nurul Hasan led Bangladesh in Shakib Al Hasan’s absence in the two-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As far as Nurul Hasan is concerned, he will be making a comeback after the injury that he sustained during the T20I series against Zimbabwe earlier this year.

After missing the Asia Cup 2022, he made the T20 World Cup 2022 squad. His career-best 42* came against Zimbabwe. He managed only 37 runs in the 4 T20Is in the New Zealand tri-series. He scored 13 off 18 against the Netherlands.

Hasan Mahmud was the most economical Bangladesh bowler as he picked 2 scalps and conceded only 15 runs in 4 overs against the Netherlands. He has played only 6 T20Is where he had 7 scalps @ 24.86.

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin Ahmed made his international debut in the WT20 (2014 T20I World Cup) game against Australia in 2014. He picked 2 scalps in the New Zealand tri-series in 3 T20Is averaging 45.5. He was the Man of the Match in Bangladesh’s first Super 12 T20 World Cup 2022 game against the Netherlands, picking 4/ 25. The 27-year-old pacer has an expertise of 41 T20Is.

Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman can bowl with the seam up and occasionally hit speeds north of 140kph; sometimes he even swings the ball into the right-hander like other left-arm quicks. Mostly, though, he just lets his hyperflexible wrist do its thing.

The left-arm seamer has been missing his ‘Fizz’ lately, evident again in the first game of the tri-nation series against Pakistan. The 27-year-old looked ordinary on a seaming Christchurch pitch, which behaved similarly to the pitches expected during the World Cup in Australia, and was unable to extract that extra pace and bounce, even compared to the other Bangladeshi seamers.

Mustafizur Rahman simply could not live up to his reputation, going wicketless and conceding 48 runs from his four overs, both in the Power play and death overs. It was the only game he played against Pakistan in the New Zealand tri-series 2022. He was wicketless in the first game against the Netherlands, returning with figures of 0/20 in 4 overs.
