An avid darts player, Alex Hales will have one goal in mind upon rejoining the English team: to establish his position there and make up for his absence on the international scene.
Everyone was shocked lately when Alex Hales was added by the England Cricket Board. Jonny Bairstow was initially a member of the English cricket board’s team, but a strange injury to the wicketkeeper-batsman prevented him from competing in the World Cup.
Sudden Turn Of Events For Alex Hales
After a three-year battle between the batsman and the board, the English side lost no time and added Hales to their lineup. Hales has been quite outspoken on several times about how he never expected to play for the national team again and believed that his opportunity to represent his country has passed.
Nevertheless, despite everything going on around him, Hales persisted in working hard and continuing to play franchise cricket all over the world. He hardly had any faith that an opportunity would present itself at some point.
Hales had originally intended to spend the month of October on holiday with his fiancée, but a sudden turn of events has brought him to Karachi, where he will be taking part in a seven-match T20I series against the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team.
The English right-handed batter will aim to take advantage of these games to rediscover his rhythm and be in shape for the impending mega-event, the T20I World Cup, which will take place in Australia later this year.
I Felt Like I Deserved Another Chance: Alex Hales
Hales recently opened up about his discussion with England’s managing director Rob Key and said:
“I was pretty firm and forceful when I rang him. I wanted to understand the concrete reasoning behind them leaving me out and had questions regarding my chances of playing for the national side, I anyways had nothing to lose. I felt like that I deserved another chance if it was cricketing merit.”
The right-handed batter also disclosed how, on the same day, he had called Buttler up and asked the identical queries. Hales, who has now been summoned back, will now aim to demonstrate his abilities at the international stage and avoid the errors he has made in the past.
