T20 World Cup 2022: Ashish Nehra Feels Bhuvneshwar Kumar Has Not Yet Cemented His Spot In India's World Cup Squad

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra believes that the veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not yet cemented his place in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad and he will face tough competition from other pacers.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a stellar run in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against South Africa National Cricket Team as he bagged 6 wickets at an economy rate of 6.07 to win the Player of the Series Award.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Nehra said that Bhuvneshwar should focus on his fitness at this stage of his career. He added that Bhuvneshwar’s place is not fixed in the Indian white-ball team and he will face tough competition from other pacers for a World Cup spot. He said:
“Bhuvneshwar definitely swung the ball in the series, but what’s important for him now at this stage in his career is his fitness and the competition that’s there around him.
“He is not yet a certainty in white-ball cricket. When you will make the World Cup team, he will have tough competition. Only four bowlers might go to the World Cup, five when you include Hardik.”

Nehra further said that Bhuvneshwar got his confidence back after his sensational performance in the five-match T20I series against South Africa. He also mentioned that the veteran pacer had bowled brilliantly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Nehra asserted:
“Bhuvneshwar has definitely got his confidence back from this series. Even in the IPL he bowled better than he has in the past two seasons.
“This is a huge plus for any player because you see in T20s not just at the start, but he also has those slower ones, knuckle balls and even if it’s 130 kmph, Yorkers aren’t easy to hit.”
