On September 21, England’s Alex Hales selected his 2022 T20 World Cup semifinalist team. The right-hander named the top four sides for the World Cup, which will be held in Australia later this year: Rohit Sharma’s India, Babar Azam’s Pakistan, Aaron Finch’s Australia, and Jos Buttler’s England.
The current winners are Australia, while England was eliminated in the semifinals after falling to eventual runners-up New Zealand. After losing to Australia in the semifinals in Dubai, Pakistan retired. On the other hand, after initially losing to Pakistan and the Kiwis, India was unable to go through the Super 12.

Additionally, Alex Hales discussed how bowlers should carry out their strategies while facing batsmen in the zone like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
“Keep making them take singles instead of boundaries. That’s the best way in T20Is, try and shut them down,” Alex Hales said.
Alex Hales Picks Babar Azam As His Ideal T20I Opening Partner
Hales, meanwhile, picked Pakistani batter Babar as his ideal T20I starting partner.
“He is among the top T20 batters, he just seems to score runs whenever he likes. It would be a nice feeling to open with him,” Hales mentioned. Previously, Babar and Hales competed for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Phil Salt and Asif Ali, according to Hales, will be the outstanding batsmen in the current seven-match T20I series being played in Lahore and Karachi. In the PSL 2022 season, Hales and Asif played for Islamabad United.
Hales struck 53 runs off 40 balls against Pakistan on Tuesday in the first T20I. His performance helped England defeat Pakistan by six wickets and take a 1-0 series lead.
