Twitter Reacts As Zimbabwe Stun Pakistan And Win The Match By 1 Run In ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 Game

In the 24th Match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team locked horns against Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe National  Cricket Team at the Perth Stadium on Thursday, 27th October.

Zimbabwe astonished Pakistan by winning the match by 1 run and now they have 3 points to their name (South Africa Match was washed out). Zimbabwe’s next match is against the lethal Netherlands on 2nd November (Friday).

Zimbabwe had won the toss and had elected to field first. Pakistan had made one change to their lineup as Mohammed Wasim came in place of Wasim whereas Zimbabwe brought back Laurie Evans for Tendai Chatara.

Zimbabwe had got off to a flyer as they managed to score 47 runs in the power-play overs for the loss of 2 overs.  The batters didn’t fear Shaheen Afridi and Co by any means.

But in the middle overs, they succumbed to pressure. The team was in a good position at 95-3 in 13.4 overs but the team lost 4 wickets in a span of 6 balls. Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 23 runs. Mohammed Wasim was the pick of the bowlers where he took 4 wickets for 24 runs in his spell. The team managed to score a paltry 130 runs.

Pakistan was dealt a huge blow as both of their openers were dismissed in the power-play overs the team managed to score 28 runs only. The Zimbabwe pacers were bowling impeccable lines and lengths as scoring was not easy.

Shadab Khan and Shan Masood were involved in 52 runs partnership and it looked like the duo would cross the finish line. Sikandar Raza from nowhere produced a brilliant spell of  3 for 25 in 4 overs.

In the 16th over Shan Masood was dismissed by Sikandar Raza and all of a sudden Pakistan was in deep trouble. The Men in Green required 37 runs to win from 29 balls which was quite a tough task as he was well set as he had scored 44 runs in 38 balls.

Mohammad Nawaz was the last recognized batter present. He was making sure that he gets the most out of the strike. In the last over Pakistan required 11 runs to win with 3 wickets in hand. The left-handed batter got out in the 5th ball where the team required 3 runs to win. In the last ball, Shaheen Afridi went for a boundary and got run out while taking the second run as Zimbabwe won the match by 1 run.

Brad Evans took 2 wickets and was quite bang-on in the last over. Zimbabwe’s fielding was a bit poor but they would be thrilled after winning the match.
