India women defeated Pakistan women by 107 runs in their opening game of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. India women scored 244-7 in the 1st innings and then bowled out Pakistan for just 137 in the 2nd innings, winning the game by 107 runs.

Chasing 245, Pakistan women faced a miserable time against India’s bowling attack. Losing wickets from the start, Pakistan women remained far away from victory. Sidra Ameen scored most 30 runs for the team while Diana Baig hit 24 runs. Rajeshwari Gayakwad picked a marvellous 4-wicket haul for India.

Other than Rajeshwari Gayakwad’s 4 wickets, Jhulan Goswami and Sneh Rana picked 2 wickets each while Meghna Singh and Deepti Sharma picked 1 wicket each. In the 1st innings, India slammed 244-7 batting first.

Smriti Mandhana played a fabulous knock of 52 runs while batting as an opener. His opening partner Shafali Verma got out for a duck. Later, Deepti Sharma slammed 40 runs at the no.3 spot. India reached a stressful position in the 1st innings when they lost 6 wickets for only 114 on the board.

However, Sneh Rana slammed an unbeaten knock of 53 runs while Pooja Vastrakar scored 67 runs batting at lower order. Their knocks helped India to revive their batting and reach a good total on the scoreboard.

With 2 wickets, India women have also reached the top spot in the points table of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 with 2 points and the highest net run rate. South African women, Australian women, and West Indies women also have 2 points each in their kitties.

India women will next face New Zealand women in the next game of ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. The match will take place on March 10 at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Pakistan women will now face Australia Women on March 8 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
