The 4th match of the ICC Women World Cup 2022 sees Pakistan Women take on India Women at Bay Oval Cricket Ground in Mount Maunganui. India are hailed as one of the strongest teams in the competition. They have previously exhibited notable performances in the history of the tournament but are yet to clinch a trophy.
India had an unforgettable outing last year as they managed to reach the finals of the 2017 edition of the World Cup. Unfortunately, they lost by 9 runs in the summit clash and India would look to go all the way this time around.
India have a strong team at their disposal. Mithali Raj, the experienced campaigner, will lead the side. She along with Jhulan Goswami are likely to be playing their last World Cup. They will be having a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. As for the batting unit, India will be banking on the services of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Shafali Verma to name a few.
The conditions in New Zealand will help more to the fast bowlers than the spinners. Thus, the likes of Jhulan Goswami, Renuka Singh, and Meghna Singh would be having more responsibility.
Pakistan, on the other hand, haven’t had a great record at the ICC T20 World Cup event. They finished the last season at the bottom of the points table as they lost all seven matches played in the tournament.
The pundits, however, are rating them highly this year and the team is expected a cause some upsets in the match. As far as their key players are concerned, the spotlight will be on the likes of Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof, and Fatima Sana to name a few. The former is their most experienced player in the squad, having represented the nation in 115 one-day internationals. The team would be hoping that Javeria Khan will have a great tournament with the bat.
Skipper, Bismah Maroof too will have a lot of responsibility on her shoulders. Being a valuable all-rounder in the series, Maroof has an important role to play for the team. Keeping in mind the seaming conditions on offer in New Zealand, Fatima Sana, the rising star for Pakistan Cricket, will be a player to watch out for in the tournament.
