ICC World Test Championship 2025 Points Table
The ICC World Test Championship is a biennial tournament and is the premier championship in the Test format. It is organised by the International Cricket Council.
The first edition of the ICC WTC was played from 2019 to 2021 while the second edition took place from 2021 to 2023. The third edition took place from 2023 to 2025. New Zealand won the inaugural edition of the WTC with an 8-wicket win over India in the final.
In the final of the second edition, Australia beat India by 209 runs to win their maiden WTC title. The third final will be played between Australia and South Africa.
ICC WTC Points Table:
The top nine teams in the ICC Test Rankings are allowed to participate in the WTC. The same nine teams - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and England - have participated in the first three editions of the championship. Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan are also Test playing nations but are yet to make the cut for the WTC.
In the inaugural WTC cycle, the points were awarded on the basis of the series. For every series, there were 120 points available and those points were distributed evenly over the number of Tests in the series. The governing body of the game had to change the system after a number of series were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
The ICC introduced the points percentage system. Later in 2021, the ICC also announced that the teams would earn points on match-to-match basis and not on series-to-series basis. Teams are ranked by the percentage of points won.
A team earns 12 points for winning a match, six for a tie and four for a draw. So a win (12 points) is 100%, a tie (six points) 50% and a draw (four points) 33.3%.
ICC WTC 2019-21 Points Table:

On the other hand, Bangladesh finished at the bottom of the points table with jut 0.48 PCT.
