The Day 5 of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and Australia at The Oval, England is underway. Coming into the day the Rohit Sharma-led side were 280 runs away from victory with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane unbeaten whereas Australia needed 7 wickets.
The hope of the 1.4 billion Indian fans was on the one man in Virat Kohli as he batted staggering well on Day 4. The right-hander looked in great touch and was unbeaten at 44 coming into the last day of the game. He started well on Day 5 as he looked focussed.
Virat Kohli seemed settled at the crease but he pushed at a delivery outside off from Scott Boland and ended up nicking it which was superbly caught by Steve Smith in the slips. He ended with the knock of 49 runs off 78 balls and it’s fair to say that hopes of Indian fans were shattered with his dismissal.
Not only the Indian fans and Virat Kohli himself were disappointed, but his wife Anushka Sharma, who was in the stands supporting her, too was dejected. She looked shocked as she saw Kohli walking back to the pavilion.

WTC Final: After Virat Kohli, Scott Boland Sends Ravindra Jadeja packing for a duck
It surely wasn’t a good morning for India, as first, they lost Virat Kohli for 49 runs. Scott Boland yet again proved to be threatening as he has bowled some staggering deliveries and has tested Indian batters with impeccable lines and lengths.
If the wicket of Virat Kohli was not enough, Scott Boland in the same over jolted India with the blow of Ravindra Jadeja. He produced a peach that took the outside edge of the all-rounder’s bat and was pouched by Alex Carey. The onus now lies on Ajinkya Rahane and KS Bharat to take India close.
