Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist silenced an X user for circulating the comments that weren’t made by him. He clearly mentioned that he never made any comments and that fake news is being published under his name.

An X user used Adam Gilchrist’s name and stated that the former Australian cricketer said that BCCI is resting Virat Kohli from the ODIs because they don’t want Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries getting shattered by Kohli.

The user circulated a quote under Gilchrist’s name that read, “Kohli is being rested on a regular basis these days, I think they want Sachin’s record to be unbeaten”. Replying to this Adam Gilchrist said, “Never said this.”

This comes after Indian team management rested Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav for the first two ODIs against Australia. The players were rested keeping in mind the workload management. They recently played in the Asia Cup and also are lined up to play 9 games in the World Cup.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav, however, will return to the team for the last ODI against Australia. The three-match series between the teams will be played from 22nd September to 27th September, which ideally will be great preparation for both teams.

Indian squad for the first two ODIs will be captained by KL Rahul. Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the team along with Washington Sundar for the first two games. The series will give a clear indication to the team about who they want to select in the World Cup.

“They (India) are well stocked – Adam Gilchrist ahead of ICC World Cup 2023

Adam Gilchrist recently talked about India’s combination for the ICC World Cup and mentioned that the team is well-stocked. He also was delighted to see Ishan Kishan taking his opportunities in the absence of KL Rahul. He explained:

“They (India) are well stocked. They have got a couple of options there, obviously when KL was out with his injury, Ishan Kishan took his opportunity and played really well and now they find themselves in the team together so that’s a wonderful case of taking an opportunity.”

Adam Gilchrist also talked about the semi-finalists for the ICC World Cup 2023. He picked India, Pakistan, England, and Australia as the top four teams for the event. He added:

“I think India and Pakistan could feature in the semi-finals, Australia and England are another two teams.”

India recently won the Asia Cup 2023. The tournament win will be a great confidence booster for them going into the ICC World Cup 2023.
