Dominic Cork Says 'India Look Complete Package While Babar Azam's Side Is Discombobulated' Ahead Of ICC World Cup 2023

Former England cricketer Dominic Cork opened up about the chances of India and Pakistan for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. He feels that the Rohit Sharma-led looks complete package whereas Men in Blue is discombobulated. He analysed the teams based on performances in Asia Cup 2023. 

India won the Asia Cup 2023 and with the kind of performance they delivered in the tournament, they look red hot favourites to win the ICC World Cup 2023. They were on the top with bat and ball in almost every game with their best performance coming up against arch-rivals Pakistan. 

India thumped them by a massive margin of 228 runs and also won the final against Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Pakistan on the other hand, were dominant in the league stage. But things didn’t go in their favour in the Super four stage. They faced a massive loss against arch-rivals and also suffered a defeat against Sri Lanka, which eliminated them from the tournament. 

Apart from this, Pakistan also faced some injury scares and things didn’t look good for them going into the ICC World Cup 2023. The Asia Cup 2023 performance has raised a lot of concerns for the team going into the mega event. With a margin of error very low loss for the World Cup, they will be under scanner. 

Dominic Cork was impressed with the way the Asia Cup 2023 panned out. He was impressed with the way India won the tournament.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained: “It was really good to just actually see it from a far from a neutral point of view because you know we watch a lot of India in Pakistan, we all do the PSL so we know what Pakistan cricket is like and how strong that is. But been around all the teams it was a really good tournament and India won it in the end quite comprehensively, bowling out Sri Lanka for 50.” 

India to me looks strongest, Pakistan don’t look strongest at the moment – Dominic Cork 

Dominic Cork analysed India and Pakistan for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. He believes that Rohit Sharma-led side is looking strong whereas Pakistan isn’t looking good.

He elaborated: “India looked good, Pakistan are looking discombobulate. You can look at Pakistan and think that they have no chance in the World Cup but you can never write them off. But when look at India they looked complete package and you got people who aren’t in their side, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav. 

“They look a complete side and obviously with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in their side and Shubman Gill, who’s record is fantastic. So India to me looks strongest, Pakistan don’t look strongest at the moment but you cannot write them off,” he concluded.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will begin from 5th October. India will open their campaign against Australia whereas Pakistan will play its first game on 6th October.
