Former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund said that ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback is a positive sign for the team ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. Abhinav Mukund highlighted that Rohit Sharma would be excited to have full-fit Jasprit Bumrah in the World Cup squad.

When He Wants To Get A Wicket, He Goes To Bumrah – Abhinav Mukund
Speaking to JioCinema, Abhinav Mukund emphasized that Jasprit Bumrah is a go-to bowler for Rohit Sharma when wickets are needed in both international and franchise cricket.
“For me, more than his return, I feel Rohit Sharma is so excited about the prospect of having Jasprit Bumrah. After having won all of those IPL titles with him, it just feels like there is a sense of confidence. When he wants to get a wicket, he goes to Bumrah. That has been a pattern for him even in franchise cricket,” Mukund told JioCinema.
Bumrah will be next seen in action during the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia at home. The pacer was included in the squad for all three matches to gain match practice before the marquee tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah Is Going To Be Test At The Death – Abhinav Mukund
Abhinav Mukund mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah will face a significant challenge against Australia, especially in the death overs.
“If you look at the series between India and Australia, Jasprit Bumrah is going to be tested at the death. He is going to be brought in when Australia’s power-packed middle-order is on the attack.”
“He is going to have to bring his entire repertoire of skills. I am sure he will be looking forward to bowling on these placid pitches because he hasn’t done that in a while,” Mukund added.
The 29-year-old picked up four wickets in three innings at an impressive average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 4.18 during the Asia Cup. He didn’t get a chance to showcase his death bowling skills in the tournament.
I Was A Bit Hesitant – Abhinav Mukund
The Tamil Nadu cricketer said that he initially hesitated regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback after a career-threatening injury. However, Mukund said that the pacer is back at his best in international cricket.
“I was a bit hesitant, and I am sure a lot of experts who were covering Jasprit Bumrah closely were a bit hesitant on how he is going to go. But he just came back from where he left. In spite of such a career-threatening injury, hasn’t played a lot of cricket, has been in and out of the side, all of this happening, and he comes back and turns up, and turns up how.”
