Mohammed Siraj Reclaims No.1 Spot In ICC ODI Rankings For Bowlers Following Impressive Performances In Asia Cup 2023

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has attained the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Bowlers Rankings following an impressive performance in the Asia Cup 2023. Mohammed Siraj replaced Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood at the top of the bowling charts.

Mohammed Siraj picked up his career-best figures of 6/21 against Sri Lanka in Colombo on September 17 in the Asia Cup final. The Men in Blue bowled out the opposition for just 50 runs in the summit clash. In response, India chased down the target in 6.1 overs with 10 wickets in hand.

The Hyderabad-born cricketer has been in exceptional form with the ball this year. The right-arm pacer picked 29 wickets in 13 matches at an impressive average of 12.86 and an economy rate of 4.62 in 2023. He bagged 24 wickets in 15 matches last year in ODI cricket.

Mohammed Siraj Becomes No.1 ODI Bowler

Mohammed Siraj was in 9th place in the ODI bowling rankings before the Asia Cup 2023 final match. Siraj is currently in the top spot with 694 rating points, while Josh Hazlewood is in second with 678 points. Trent Boult is in third place, followed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan.

South African spinner Keshav Maharaj made significant progress in the ODI Rankings, climbing ten places to reach the 15th position. The left-arm spinner picked up eight wickets in the recent ODI series against Australia at an average of 16.87 and an economy rate of 4.07.

Heinrich Klaasen Makes Big Strike In Batting Rankings

South African batter Heinrich Klaasen made big strides in the batters rankings, following his knock against Australia in the fourth ODI. Klaasen moved 20 places to reach 9th in the batting charts. He played a destructive knock of 174 runs at a strike rate of 209.64 in Centurion.

Dawid Malan was the leading run scorer in the ODI series against England, scoring 277 runs at an impressive average of 92.33 and a strike rate of 105.72. Malan’s outstanding performance has propelled him to a career-best 13th place in the ODI Rankings.

England star all-rounder Ben Stokes has climbed to 36th place in the rankings, celebrating his ODI comeback with a remarkable 182 at the Oval. Ben Stokes recently came out of retirement to make him available for selection for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
