Ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable for selection for the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah has taken a short break to visit his family and is set to join the Indian team before the third and final ODI of the series.
Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, welcomed the birth of their first child, a baby boy named Angad Jasprit Bumrah, earlier this month. Bumrah returned home from Sri Lanka and rejoined the squad for the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup 2023.
Mukesh Kumar Has Joined The Team As Jasprit Bumrah’s Replacement
Ahead of the second ODI between India and Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India took to official X (formerly known as Twitter) to share an update on Jasprit Bumrah‘s availability. The BCCI confirmed that Bumrah did not travel with the team to Indore.
The board mentioned that the 29-year-old was granted a short break by the team management to visit his family. They confirmed that pacer Mukesh Kumar has been included as a replacement for Bumrah, who is expected to rejoin the team for the final ODI in Rajkot.
“Mr Jasprit Bumrah did not travel with the team to Indore for the 2nd ODI against Australia. He has gone to visit his family and given a short break by the team management. Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has joined the team as Bumrah’s replacement for the 2nd ODI. Bumrah will join the team for the final ODI in Rajkot,” wrote the caption.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Impressive Bowling Performances
Jasprit Bumrah recently made a comeback to international cricket during the tour of Ireland last month after a prolonged injury layoff. The right-arm pacer showed impressive bowling performances in Ireland and the Asia Cup despite being sidelined from action for 11 months.
The Mumbai Indians pacer picked up four wickets in three innings at an impressive average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 4.18 during the Asia Cup. He continued his form against Australia in the first ODI, taking one wicket and conceding just 43 runs in his 10-over quota.
