Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli's Participation In Third ODI Questionable? Former Indian All Rounder Delivers Massive Update

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to join the Indian team for the third match against Australia but since India has already sealed the series, the third match will be a dead rubber. As far as the third ODI is concerned, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kohli, and Pandya will be back on the side for this match but since India has already won the series, there are questions about whether their participation in the third match is necessary or not.

India won the second ODI, defeating Australia by 99 runs[DLS] in a rain-affected encounter. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl on a batting-friendly track which resulted in India’s favour as the Indian batters looked completely in song with Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill taking the Australian bowlers by storm.

The Iyer-Gill duo added 200 runs for the second wicket, both the batters scoring a century and then came KL Rahul, who scored a quickfire 52 off just 38 deliveries. In the end, Suryakumar Yadav went all guns blazing as he played a fiery knock of 72 off just 37 deliveries.

India managed to put 399 on the board in 50 overs, in reply to which Australia succumbed to the spin-duo of Ashwin and Jadeja with both the spinners getting 3 wickets each. Australia were bowled out for 217 and India secured a rather comfortable win at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Shreyas Iyer was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock scoring 105 off 90 deliveries.

Abhishek Nayar Feels Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Should Opt Out Of The Third ODI

Kohli and Rohit will be back in the squad for the third ODI but former cricketer Abhishek Nayar feels differently about their inclusion.

Speaking to Jio Cinema after the match, Nayar expressed his opinion about the star batters as he feels that both of them should sit down for the next match, allowing the youngsters to build on their fine form.

“Well, I think most of them pick themselves too. Unfortunately, some will have to miss out if the big players decide to play because it’s gonna be interesting with how the younger guys have been doing well. You know it will depend if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli choose to play or let the youngsters have one more go and get some form under their belt.”

“Because now Suryakumar Yadav has scored runs, Shreyas Iyer scored runs and Ishan Kishan has been in good nick. So will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli say, you know, let these guys finish this tournament and then we’ll see what and how to choose before the World Cup. It’s going to be interesting.
