Shubman Gill has been in sublime form this year, especially in the limited-overs format. The young lad has scored a whopping 1230 runs in just 20 innings with a stunning average of 72.35. Shubman scored 178 runs in two matches in the ongoing IND-AUS ODI series. He scored 74 in the first ODI and a brilliant 104 in the second.

Gill has shown a lot of character over the past few months. His innings against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup Super 4s is a trailer of what he can do. The best thing about Shubman is that he can manipulate the bowlers with his gameplay and this can make him India’s ace weapon for World Cup 2023. Former India cricketer Abhishek Nayar is in awe of Gill’s ability.

During the second ODI, Shubman got off to a good start, scoring a flee-footed 32 runs before the rain interruption in the 10th over of the Indian innings. Speaking to Jio-Cinema during the rain break, Abhishek Nayar lauded the versatility of Shubman Gill and said that his versatility will make him the next big thing in World Cricket.

Abhishek Nayar Impressed With Shubman Gill’s Fine Form

“Against the pacers, he did not get the pace that he wanted so he started to use his feet, which is why Shubman Gill is touted to be the next big thing, is because he can have these versatile games with him. He can up the ante when he wants to, he can take his time. He is just terrific and he just shows a lot of maturity,” Nayar said on Jio Cinema.

Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer both built a 200-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Shreyas scored 105 runs in just 90 deliveries scoring his first ODI century this year while Gill took 97 deliveries to reach his 104. The short boundaries of Indore’s Holkar Stadium certainly helped the Indian Batters to reach a mammoth total of 399 in 50 overs.

In reply, the Australian batters succumbed to the pressure and were bowled out for 217 chasing the reduced target of 317 in the rain-affected encounter. India have already won the three-match series with a 2-0 lead against the Kangaroos. In the next match, all the big guns will be back for the Indian team as they aim for the ultimate glory of World Cup 2023.
