Former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar lauded Shubman Gill for his batting approach in the ODI series against Australia. Abhishek Nayar emphasized that Shubman Gill’s versatility and ability to adapt his game against pacers make him a highly promising and mature batter.
Shubman Gill started the three-match ODI series on a high note with a brilliant half-century in Mohali on Friday. The right-handed batter scored 74 runs off 63 deliveries before being dismissed by Adam Zampa. He smashed six boundaries and two sixes during his knock.
Shubman Gill Have Versatile Game – Abhishek Nayar
Speaking on Jio Cinema during the rain interruption, Abhishek Nayar said that Shubman Gill made use of his footwork to dominate against the Australian pacers in the second ODI on Sunday.
“Against the pacers, he did not get the pace that he wanted, so he started to use his feet, which is why Shubman Gill is touted to be the next big thing, because he can have these versatile games with him. He can up the ante when he wants to; he can take his time. He is just terrific, and he just shows a lot of maturity,” Nayar told Jio Cinema.
Gill has been in the form of his life in all formats of the game. The young opener reached his half-century off 37 balls during the second ODI in Indore on September 24. He started his innings slowly, and at one stage, he scored nine runs off 19 deliveries.
Jasprit Bumrah Rested For Second ODI Match
Australia Stand-in Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bowl first in the must-win encounter. The visitors made three changes to their line-up: Pat Cummins, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh have been rested. The hosts rested ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
