Speaking to Jio Cinema after the match, Shubman Gill stated that he had previously played IPL matches in Mohali, but playing an international match in front of his family was a special moment for him.

The visitors set a target of 277 runs after losing the toss. Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a good start for the team with a 142-run opening partnership. Gaikwad smashed his maiden ODI half-century, scoring 71 runs off 77 balls with the help of 10 boundaries.
