Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Team Management’s Advice To Improve Batting In ODIs

Ahead of IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in Indore, Suryakumar Yadav revealed the learnings he got from team management to improve his batting in ODIs. Suryakumar Yadav said that the team management advised him to stretch his innings in ODIs.

Surykumar Yadav scored a brilliant half-century in the recent IND vs AUS 1st ODI in Mohali. Yadav, who struggled to score good knocks in ODIs earlier, arrived with his dream knock in the opening ODI game against Australia.

Batting at no.6. the right-handed batsman scored 50 runs from 49 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. He also etched a match-winning partnership of 80 runs with KL Rahul for 5th wicket. Unlike his quickfire batting style, Yadav showed a lot of patience while batting.

Team Management Told Me To Stretch My Innings: Suryakumar Yadav

While speaking ahead of the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in Indore, Suryakumar Yadav revealed his batting approach in the last match.

“When I was sitting inside, I was actually visualising if we need about 125 runs, what will be my approach. I have practised what I did yesterday in the last five-six sessions.

I wanted to see what I can do without playing a single sweep shot if I bat for about 40-50 balls and really got good confidence with the last game”, the right-handed batsman said.

Suryakumar Yadav also revealed that the team management advised him to stretch his innings in ODIs and take a little more time.

“I was thinking about what’s going wrong in this format, everything remains the same, white ball is the same, the colour of clothing is the same. I got a lot of learnings from my team management.

They said, ‘you just have to stretch your innings, take a little bit more time, try and bat a little more deep and see what happens,” the right-handed batsman further added.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav is also part of IND vs AUS 2nd ODI. The match is taking place at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Batting first, India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad’s (8) wicket early in the 4th over. However, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer took the scoreboard to 80-1 after 10 overs. Earlier, India won the 1st ODI by 5 wickets and lead the three-match series 1-0.
