Former South Africa player AB de Villiers has said that Virat Kohli is the greatest ODI batsman of all time. Virat Kohli recently became the fastest batsman to reach 13000 runs in ODIs during Asia Cup 2023.

In 268 innings, Kohli has mustered 13027 runs at an average of 57.38. The former Indian captain also showcased a marvelous form in Asia Cup 2023. He slammed a century in the clash against Pakistan in Super Four round to win the Player of the Match award.

Virat Kohli Is The Greatest ODI Batter Of All Time- AB de Villiers

While speaking on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers said that Virat Kohli is the greatest ODI batsman of all time. Notably, AB de Villiers spent more than a decade playing for Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers became the poster boys for RCB in IPL. In November 2021, De Villiers retired from all forms of cricket, putting an end to his IPL journey.

Notably, AB de Villiers has overlooked batting great Sachin Tendulkar by calling Virat Kohli the greatest ODI batsman of all time. Sachin Tendulkar, who played for India from 1989 to 2012, is the leading run-getter in ODIs.

Tendulkar played 463 ODI matches during his career and piled up 18426 runs at an average of 44.83. He also hit 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries in ODIs. In comparison, Virat Kohli accounts for 47 tons and 65 fifties in ODIs. Kohli needs three more centuries to outplay Sachin Tendulkar in the tally of most ODI centuries.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is part of India’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. In 2023, he has held an outstanding form in ODIs and is expected to play an important role for the team in the tournament.

ICC World Cup 2023 begins on October 5. India will be led by Rohit Sharma. They will play their opening match against Australia on October 5. Recently, India won the Asia Cup 2023 title after defeating Sri Lanka in the final by 10 wickets.
