The ongoing first ODI between India and Australia is currently taking place at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Stand-in skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to field first. The hosts have been quite sloppy on the field today as they have displayed ordinary performance.
India have dropped a few catches and also have let easy boundaries away. However, luck favored them on one occasion and eventually, it saw Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne getting stumped out. The incident took place during the 33rd over when Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling.
Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a tossed-up delivery that turned in. Marnus Labuschagne tried to play reverse sweep and got the edge. KL Rahul missed the catch but to his fortune, the ball hit his pad and then ricocheted onto the stumps.
The umpires went upstairs and Marnus Labuschagne didn’t have any part of the feet behind the crease. It’s fair to say that it was a lucky breakthrough for the team and it came at the right team as the batter was looking set for the big knock.
Marnus Labuschagne scored 39 runs off 49 balls with the help of three boundaries. With his wicket, Australia lost their fourth wicket and were left tottering at 157/4.
KL Rahul misses an easy run out of Marnus Labuschagne in the 23rd over
The wicket of Marnus Labuschagne would be a huge relief for captain KL Rahul. The keeper-batter missed an easy run out early on. It was during the 23rd over the game when a mixup between Cameron Green and Labuschagne put the latter in trouble.
Marnus Labuschagne ran quickly towards the non-striker’s end and had almost reached the middle of the pitch when Green sent him back. Suryakumar Yadav picked up the ball and threw it towards KL Rahul. The keeper-batter failed to gobble the ball as the batter was given a lifeline.
