When it comes to commitment and dedication to cricket, there are very few players who can maintain the same high standard as Ravichandran Ashwin.
Last month, he received praise from all over for plying his trade in the TNCA Division 1 tournament just after returning home from the Caribbean following the Test series against West Indies. While no other bowler in the series could pick up more than 7 wickets, he had picked up 15.
Players usually like to rest and spend time with their families after such a hectic tour but Ravichandran Ashwin is an exception. He just loves to remain involved with cricket. When he is not playing, he makes sure to share his views on the game through YouTube videos and his social media accounts. And the India ace gave another proof of his extraordinary dedication and commitment once again on Friday (September 22).
It was a special day for the off-spinner as he played an ODI for Team India after more than a year. Ravichandran Ashwin led India’s spin attack in the first ODI against Australia in Mohali. The Tamil Nadu ace did well with the ball, taking 1 for 47 off his 10 overs.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s remarkable dedication:
After impressing with the ball, Ravichandran Ashwin decided to hit the nets after Team India chased down Australia’s total. Instead of taking a rest after the game, Ravichandran Ashwin decided to don his batting pads, put on his helmet, and walk out for a late-night practice session. Head coach Rahul Dravid was also accompanying him during the session.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s impressive decision not only stunned the fans but also the experts such as Mark Waugh and Abhishek Nayar, who were part of the broadcasting panel. Both the former cricketers heaped praise on the India ace for his attitude.
“How cool is that? He is batting right in the centre, he’s got a net out. And that’s where the support staff really works hard. It’s past 10, it’s late and they are still going. He’s got Rahul Dravid at square leg, Vikram Rathour at slips, Mark Waugh at fine leg, so it’s a terrific part of the preparation. I’m sure the management has told him to work on his batting,” Nayar said.
Ravichandran Ashwin earned the recall after Axar Patel sustained an injury. He is in contention to make it to the World Cup squad if Axar fails to recover in time.
