"If not you..." - Shubman Gill reveals Rahul Dravid's motivational message after Ranchi Test win

Shubman Gill, who was having a terrible time as India’s No.3, has redeemed himself spectacularly in the position as he registered another 50+ score in the fourth Test. He now has at least one 50+ score in three consecutive Tests. After the match, he posted on his Instagram captioning it with the message that Rahul Dravid gave him before batting on the final day. Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 52 off 124 deliveries in the fourth innings to take India home.

Shubman Gill showed his resilience and patience in this innings as he smashed only two boundaries both of them being sixes coming at the climax of the Test match. India won the fourth Test against England which was being played at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi. The hosts won the Test match by five wickets as Dhruv Jurel starred in the match with his 90 (149) in the first innings and unbeaten 39 (77) in the second innings.

Shubman Gill revealed the message that Rahul Dravid gave him before batting on the final day. He captioned his Instagram post on Dravid’s message. Rahul Dravid has shown much faith in this young Indian side and the faith is paying off as the team has performed brilliantly in the absence of key players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the Test series for India with the ball but he was rested for the fourth Test to manage his workload.

Shubman Gill captioned his post which said “If not you, then who? If not now, then when?”- Rahul Dravid.” Rahul Dravid has seen Shubman Gill from his Under 19 days and has followed his game from the very beginning. He has backed and supported Shubman Gill during his tough times and as a result, Gill has started performing in Test cricket. After the match, Rahul Dravid was also seen hugging Shubman Gill delightfully.

Shubman Gill scored 104 in the second innings of the second Test in Vizag and then made 91 in the second innings of the third Test. Now he has scored 52 in the second innings of the fourth Test in Ranchi and has made three 50+ scores in consecutive Test matches against England. He was severely criticised after he failed in the first Test as he was going through a rough phase in his game not scoring a 50+ score in the last 11-12 innings but now he has redeemed himself and has performed brilliantly.

India and England will now face each other in the fifth and final Test of the series which will commence on March 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The hosts have already taken an unassailable lead but it will be beneficial for them to win this Test match as it will improve their points in the WTC points table whereas England will be hoping to win this game as a consolation prize.
