Dhruv Jurel has shown some excellent performance with both the gloves and the bat in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. He missed out on a well-deserved 100 as he got out after scoring 90 off 149 deliveries smashing four sixes and six fours in his innings. Former India U19 wicketkeeper Shreevats Goswami reckons that investment in Dhruv Jurel made by the Indian team has given them a high return with interest. Dhruv Jurel has been brilliant for the Indian team both behind the wickets and in front of the wickets.

India and England are playing the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi and England has started the second innings with a 46-run lead. However, it was Dhruv Jurel’s gritty knock that helped India reduce the lead to just 46 runs after the first innings. Dhruv Jurel came out to bat when India was struggling at 161/5 and then lost a couple more wickets as Sarfaraz Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin were back in the dugout.

Dhruv Jurel stitched an important partnership with Kuldeep Yadav adding 76 runs for the eighth wicket after India was 177/7. He took the team’s total to 307 and was then bowled by a quicker one from Tom Hartley who completely deceived the Indian wicketkeeper who was reaching his 100. Jurel made his debut in Rajkot where he scored 46 in the first innings and now just in the second Test of his career, he has shown some real maturity while batting down the order.

“Investment on Dhruv Jurel has given the team a high return with interest so far. He’s been absolutely brilliant both behind & in front of the stumps. This is such an important knock, played the situation perfectly,” tweeted Shreevats Goswami on Dhruv Jurel.

Dhruv Jurel has been involved in five dismissals in the two Test matches that he has played for India and has been a brilliant replacement for KS Bharat who was not contributing well with the bat. Jurel has amassed 136 runs in two innings at an average of 68 in Test cricket and has been brilliant with both the bat and the gloves in this series.

England won the toss and decided to bat first scoring 353 in the first innings as Joe Root smashed his 31st Test century remaining unbeaten at 122. India was bundled for 307 in response laying back on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 73 off 118 and Dhruv Jurel’s 90 off 149. England has lost three important wickets in the second innings under 100 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin has taken all three wickets sending Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Joe Root back to the pavilion and India is hoping to seal the series by winning this match in Ranchi as England is struggling in the second innings.
