Ben Stokes-led England were not able to continue their winning momentum and lost to India in the second Test match by 106 runs. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers and ended up with the match with a nine-wicket haul. Bumrah was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance as it became the major reason between India and England.

England captain Ben Stokes as well was not able to do much with the bat and got out for 11 runs in the second innings. Stokes was run out by Shreyas Iyer as he was not able to make the crease on time. While speaking up on the incident, Stokes revealed in the post-match press interaction that it was like a dream where an individual wants to run faster but he can’t. Stokes stated that it was one of the most bizarre couple of seconds for him and he knew he had to run faster but he couldn’t.

He said, “It was like one of those dreams where you’re trying to run faster but you can’t. I knew I had to go faster but for some reason I just couldn’t, it was a really bizarre couple of seconds.”

Ben Stokes further told the reporters that at the age of 32, he would learn not to do something like this. Stokes further revealed that it was not the first time that he had got run out doing something stupid.

Ben Stokes said, “You’d think by now at 32 I’d learn not to do that, it’s not the first time i’ve been run out doing something stupid. I always seem to do something that’s a talking point, good or bad, don’t I?”

Ben Stokes played an innings of 47 runs in the first innings of the second Test match and was the second-highest run-scorer after Zak Crawley. Stokes has won many matches for his team with his famous batting performances, however, on this occasion he failed to do so.

England were set up a total of 399 runs to win and chasing down the score would have been easy for the team. The team was off to a decent start, however, they ended up losing wickets at regular intervals on Day 4, which became the major reason behind the team’s defeat in the match. The English team gave a tough fight to India and would be looking forward to making a comeback in the third game.

Not everything in the Indian camp is OK, even after winning the second Test match. The middle and lower order for the Indian team is giving them trouble. The absence of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli is another big reason why the batsmen aren’t scoring runs to their full ability.

The team is also concerned about Shreyas Iyer’s form. If he is left out of the squad for the third Test, Sarfaraz Khan may take his position if neither KL Rahul nor Virat Kohli show up for the next three Test matches.
