Joe Root has lifted the monkey off his back with his sensational innings in the first innings of the Ranchi Test. The batter was under a lot of pressure ahead of the match due to his poor outings but he made sure that he shuts up all the noise.

Opting to bat first, England were tumbling at 57/3 and it was then when Joe Root stepped up. The batter got slowly into the groove and once he was in he set the stage on fire and made India bowlers look clueless. He held the fort for his team while wickets kept tumbling at the other end.

Joe Root, who was trying to play attacking cricket in the last three games, returned to his old self in the ongoing game. The batter looked solid at the crease as he played crisp shots in his innings and made India bowlers think a lot with his staggering stroke play in the game.

Joe Root first notched up a valiant half-century and with that, he became the batter with the most 50+ scores in England Test history. He, however, made sure that he didn’t stop there as he went further ahead and notched up a blistering century in the game.

Joe Root brought up his 31st Test century in 219 balls and became the first batter in the history of the game to slam 10 Test hundreds against India. He ton assured that England go past 250 runs on the board. The batter at the of writing this piece had slammed 9 fours in his innings.
