Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led the national team to a series victory against England in the five-match series at home. Following the victory in the fourth Test, Rohit Sharma equaled the legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar’s record for wins as an Indian captain in Tests.
The Indian team suffered a 28-run loss in the first Test in Hyderabad despite taking a 190-run lead in the first innings. However, the home team bounced back to win the remaining three matches in the series. The Men in Blue took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.
The Rohit Sharma-led side secured a five-wicket victory in a thrilling encounter in Ranchi. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel was named Player of the Match for his crucial runs with the bat, scoring 90 runs in the first innings followed by 39 in the second innings.

“My job and Rahul Bhai’s job is to give them the environment they want to be in and they don’t feel too much about going out there and getting the job done, they want to get the job done but there’s no point to keep talking about it or reminding them about it because they are very clear in what they want to do,” Rohit said after the win.

Despite this feat, Sharma still trails behind Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and MS Dhoni in terms of total wins. Notably, Sharma maintains an unbeaten record in bilateral Test series.
