"Stop whingeing about DRS" - Brad Hogg blasts Ben Stokes' call for abolishment of umpire's call

The DRS has been a major talking point of the IND vs ENG Test series. English captain Ben Stokes has been criticizing the umpire’s call in the ball tracking technology and wants it to be removed from it. There was a lot of debate around Zak Crawley’s LBW decision during the Rajkot Test match. The umpire had given it out however, Crawley had reviewed the decision, though, as the ball was clipping the stumps, the decision remained out.
Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg argues that the umpire’s decision should be upheld when employing the DRS because the technology has a margin of error that can be mitigated by the human factor.
Brad Hogg slams Ben Stokes’ approach over the umpire’s call
Brad Hogg while speaking on his YouTube channel opened up about his verdict on the umpire’s call and also gave his opinion on Ben Stokes’ comments regarding the same. Hogg said, “For me, the more I think about it, the more I feel umpire’s call should be in there because the technology is slightly wrong. I understand it might have cost England at some important stage, but it could cost the opposition too. Stop whingeing about the DRS. It’s the same for both sides.”
Ben Stokes believes that there shall be no umpire’s call in the Decision Review System and believes that if the ball hits the stumps then it should be out. However, many cricket experts argue that the DRS is a technology and there can be an error in it, due to which there shall be an umpire’s call in the DRS.
The fourth match in the IND vs ENG Test series is scheduled to take place at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. Both squads arrived on the ground and began training. While KL Rahul remains injured, Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined for the fourth Test.
In the third Test match, the Indian team solved the majority of their concerns, and almost all of the team’s players performed admirably. India will be full of confidence following their enormous 434-run victory over the Three Lions, and they will want to win the series in Ranchi.
England on the other hand, needs to address a lot of things. The Three Lions have been dependent on the performances of individual players whereas top names such as Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have also not been able to perform as per their abilities.
Ben Stokes has been only able to perform with the bat and is yet to bowl in the series. Also, the bowling lineup including James Anderson and Mark Wood has been flopping in the ongoing series. Anderson went for a lot of runs during the Rajkot Test, however, the team management did not replace him in the fourth Test. England have brought in Ollie Robinson in place of Mark Wood whereas Rehan Ahmed has been excluded from the team whereas Shoaib Bashir finds a place in the side.
India would be aiming to win the series in Ranchi and also strengthen their place in the World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.
