India skipper Rohit Sharma had a hilarious reaction to a wrong decision by the on-field umpire in the ongoing fifth Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
He and Yashasvi Jaiswal had to walk out to bat on day one of the Test itself after India’s bowlers came up with a brilliant performance to bowl out England for a modest 218 runs. The veteran batsman and his young opening partner could add only 25 runs for the first wicket when umpire Joel Wilson adjudged Rohit Sharma out.
The incident took place in the seventh over when Rohit Sharma was facing England veteran James Anderson. On the third ball of the over, Anderson bowled a short-of-length delivery angled towards the leg side. Rohit Sharma went for a glance but failed to make good contact with the ball. The ball brushed his pad and went behind the stumps where the wicketkeeper grabbed it with ease.
There was a noise when the ball was passing the bat and the England fielders appealed for a caught behind. Rohit Sharma was surprised at the umpire’s decision and immediately took the review before giving a hilarious reaction. The veteran batter was seen smiling and shaking his head in disbelief before he seemingly said: “Abe chu**ya hai kya?”
The UltraEdge soon confirmed that Rohit Sharma was right and the on-field umpire had to reverse his decision.
