India wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel hasn’t put a foot wrong in the ongoing fourth Test against England. The second last match of the five-match Test series between the teams is taking place at the Jharkhand Cricket Association complex in Ranchi. 

Dhurv Jurel has been the hero for India in the ongoing Day 3 of the game. While his batting was class apart, he exhibited brilliant skills with the gloves behind the stumps. This was evident when he took a magnificent catch off James Anderson and helped India bundle out the opposition for a low total. 

On the 5th ball of the 54th over, Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a delivery to which James Anderson attempted a reverse sweep. The batter missed the ball and all the Indian players went up for an appeal, hoping that the umpire would raise his finger and terms the batter out. 

However, as they were appealing, the ball hit the thigh pad and lobbed up. It hit the bat and then dropped to the right of the Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter was very alert and stuck his right glove out to pouch it clean to give Ravichandran his 35th Test five-wicket haul.

James Anderson couldn’t trouble the scorers much as he bagged a three-ball duck and with his wicket, England’s innings ended on 145 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin claimed his 35th fifer in the Test and stood tall for the team when his side was down and dusted and the series was on the line.

Ravichandran Ashwin opened the innings with the ball for his team. The off-spinner was right on the money from the start as he picked three quick wickets and made sure that India got off the flying start, despite conceding a lead of 46 runs in the first innings.

Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav did the carnage with the ball. The leg-spinner picked four wickets with the ball and Ravindra Jadeja also claimed one wicket. India wrapped up England’s innings for just 145 runs, setting themselves a target of 192 runs to chase.

Dhruv Jurel shines with the bat for India in the first innings

One of the prime reasons why India is bossing the game has been Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter played a stellar innings with the bat and made sure that India got close to England’s target after being left tottering at 177/7. He made sure that he put his team in the driver’s seat.

Dhruv Jurel showed great composure and grit and slammed a vital half-century. The batter was looking all set for his ton but fell short by just 10 runs. He ended with the innings of 90 runs and took India past 300 runs, which at one moment seemed difficult.

Dhruv Jurel’s stupendous innings with the bat helped India post 307 runs on the board. In what was his second Test innings, he made sure that he made a huge mark. His innings lifted the confidence in the Indian camp as they bowled out England for a low total in the second innings.
