Ollie Robinson stretched his overnight score to his maiden half-century for England in red-ball cricket. The English batter scored 58 runs before being dismissed by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja. India finally drew blood after conceding 45 runs to the overnight tally.

Ollie Robinson attempted a reverse sweep against Ravindra Jadeja in the first session on the second day in Ranchi. Dhruv Jurel displayed remarkable agility with a reflex catch. Robinson opted for a Decision Review System (DRS), but the replays confirmed the edge.

“Fast hand Jurel.  That was one fine catch behind the stumps,” wrote the caption.

The wicket of Robinson triggered a collapse in England’s first innings of the ongoing match. The visiting team managed to add only six more runs before being bowled out. Ravindra Jadeja claimed all three wickets that fell in the morning session of the second day.

Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Shoaib Bashir for a duck in the same over. The Indian all-rounder later trapped James Anderson in front of the stumps for a duck in his next over. Joe Root remained unbeaten on 122 runs as England scored 353 runs in their first innings.

In response, team India skipper Rohit Sharma fell early, scoring just two runs off nine deliveries. Veteran English pacer James Anderson claimed his first wicket of the match. The home team rested at 4/2 inside the first three overs in their first innings of the match.

Young off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who replaced Rehan Ahmed in the playing XI, claimed the next three wickets in India’s innings. Bashir dismissed Shubman Gill (38) and Rajat Patidar (17) LBW. He also got the crucial wicket of in-form batsman Ravindra Jadeja for just 12 runs.

I Am Very Impressed With Dhruv Jurel – Brad Hogg

Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg expressed admiration for Dhruv Jurel. Hogg acknowledged Jurel’s capabilities with both the bat and the gloves. The former spinner stated that Juel has a very bright future ahead of him.

“I am very impressed with Jurel. I feel sorry for Bharat, but Jurel offers more with the bat and with gloves. He is going to have a very bright future, also depending on whether Pant gets fully fit and plays all three formats,” said Hogg.

“England are just playing their brand of cricket and know that India’s youth has such talent and they were just trying to bat quickly to give their bowlers enough time to pick 20 wickets. They just got hampered by young Jaiswal. The brand of cricket that he played along with Sarfaraz too, out pressure on England,” Hogg added.
