Rahul Dravid was seen pumped in the dressing and roared after Dhruv Jurel hit the winning runs. Dravid also gave tight hugs to Jurel and Shubman Gill while they were returning to the dressing room.

This was the first time after 2013, India were able to win a Test match in India while chasing down over 150 runs. Also, this was India’s seventh Test series win overall after going 1-0 down. England lost their first Test series under the reign of head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes.

Despite having a first-innings lead, the visitors put up a flop batting display in the second innings. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin put England on the back foot early in their second innings, taking three early wickets. Ashwin dismissed the dangerous man Ben Duckett for 15 runs after Sarfaraz Khan caught him at short leg, and he struck again the next ball to dispatch Ollie Pope for a golden duck. Ashwin added insult to injury when he caught Joe Root in front for 11 runs, reducing England to 65/3.

After Ravichandran Ashwin destroyed England’s top and middle order, Kuldeep Yadav began his pursuit for wickets by dismissing English opener Zak Crawley for 60 off 91 deliveries. The ball was pitched outside the line of the off stump and struck the middle stump. Crawley was defeated by both turn and bounce, forcing him to head to the locker room. Ben Stokes became Yadav’s second victim when he overconfidently protected the ball and scored four runs off thirteen deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Jonny Bairstow with the first ball after tea.

Kuldeep Yadav continued his dominance and removed Tom Hartley and Ollie Robinson to complete a four-wicket. R Ashwin gave the finishing touch to the England innings and took the last two wickets to complete his fifer.

While India were set a target of 192 runs to win in their second innings, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scored 84 runs from 105 balls for the first wicket. Rohit achieved a well-deserved half-century, scoring 55 runs off 81 balls. Joe Root dismissed Jaiswal for 37 runs off 44 balls, denying him a fifty. Following the dismissals of Rohit and Jaiswal, Rajat Patidar’s run of poor scores continued, and he was dismissed for a duck. Patidar was followed by Ravindra Jadeja, who walked back to the dressing room having scored four runs.

In the end, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel made sure that India crossed the line and won the match by five wickets.
