Veteran English pacer James Anderson provided an early breakthrough for his team on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test against India. James Anderson cleaned up Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, displaying remarkable bowling skills on a flat surface in Visakhapatnam.

The Indian team resumed play on the third day with a total of 28-0 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The home team had earlier bowled out England for 253 runs in the first innings, taking a substantial 143-run lead.

Watch – James Anderson Cleans Up Rohit Sharma With Stunning Delivery

Rohit Sharma fell victim to James Anderson’s delivery in the first session of the third day. The Indian opener departed after scoring 31 runs off 21 balls, featuring three boundaries. The home team lost its first wicket with just 30 runs on the board in the second innings.

Anderson bowled a fuller-length delivery that nipped away slightly, beating the outside edge and shattering the off stump. Challenging the Indian opener’s defense in the morning session, the pacer provided an early breakthrough for England to stay in the game.

Anderson compounded India’s woes by removing Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored a double century in the first innings, for a modest 17 runs. Jaiswal edged the ball to Joe Root at first slip. The hosts lost two overnight batters, managing to add just two runs on Day 3.

India restricted the England team to 253 runs in the ongoing match’s first innings. India’s premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, dismantled the opposition batting order, claiming six wickets for 45 runs. Zak Crawley emerged as England’s top scorer with 76 runs off 78 balls.

Rohit Sharma Was Proactive After Zak Crawley’s Wicket Fell – Zaheer Khan

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan praised Rohit Sharma for his strategic captaincy on Day 2 of the ongoing Test. Khan highlighted Rohit’s decision to reintroduce Jasprit Bumrah as well-calculated, and Bumrah responded effectively to create opportunities.

“The move to bring back Jasprit Bumrah was a well-calculated move. Rohit was proactive after Zak Crawley’s wicket fell and he was aware enough to know that Root has just walked in, and Ollie Pope has done the damage in the previous innings, so bring in your best bowler, create the opportunity and Bumrah reacted beautifully to that opportunity,” Khan said.

After Zak Crawley’s dismissal, Rohit Sharma reintroduced Jasprit Bumrah, who delivered an outstanding spell. Bumrah showcased his skill by dismissing Joe Root, Ollie Pope, and Jonny Bairstow. He bowled an exceptional inswinging yorker to shatter Pope’s stumps.

Bumrah achieved the milestone of being the fastest Indian pacer to claim 150 Test wickets. He is the second-fastest Asain bowler after Waqar Younis. His impressive bowling spell of 6/45 not only contributed to this feat but also placed the hosts in a commanding position.

The Rohit Sharma-led team is currently trailing 0-1 in the five-match red-ball series at home. Despite gaining a 190-run lead in the series opener, the Indian team faced a 28-run loss.
