A hilarious incident between Sarfaraz Khan and Shoaib Bashir took place during the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi. Both the players have made their Test debuts in the ongoing series.

While Sarfaraz Khan made his debut in the third Test in Ranchi, Shoaib Bashir earned his maiden Test cap during the second Test in Vishakhapatnam. The young spinner was dropped from the playing eleven for the third Test before being recalled.

Talking about the incident, took place on the second day of the Test when Shoaib Bashir walked out to bat. Joe Root and Ollie Robinson added 45 runs to the overnight score before the latter was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. When Shoaib Bashir walked out to bat, Sarfaraz Khan asked his teammates if he knew Hindi.

For those who don’t know, Shoaib Bashir is a British Muslim of Pakistani descent. When Sarfaraz Khan enquired about Shoaib Bashir’s language skills, the England spinner came up with a hilarious reply.

“Isko to Hindi nahi aati hain (he doesn’t know Hindi),” asked Sarfaraz Khan before the England youngster said: “Thodi thodi aati hain Hindi (I know little bit of Hindi).”

Sarfaraz Khan and Shoaib Bashir’s debuts:

Shoaib Bashir made his debut in the Vishakhapatnam Test and made an instant impact by dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma cheaply. He went on to pick three more wickets in the game although England ended up losing the game by 106 runs. He was then dropped for the third Test in Rajkot.

On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan made his debut in the Rajkot Test and hit the ground running in international cricket by scoring two quick-fire fifties. In the first innings, he scored 62 off just 66 balls before being run out before scoring an unbeaten 68 off 72 balls in the second innings as India won the Test by a record 434 runs.

Talking about the ongoing fourth Test, England recovered from 112 for 5 to post a competitive total of 353 runs thanks to an unbeaten 122-run knock from Joe Root. In reply, India were on 34 for 1 at lunch on day two.
