IND vs WI: Batta Phenk Raha Hai - Virat Kohli Accuses Kraigg Brathwaite Of Illegal Bowling Action

After a long wait, Indian batter Virat Kohli finally got the opportunity to bat in the ongoing first Test against West Indies at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica. The batter came out to bat in the 79th over and took time to get going as he has been struggling with his form in his format of late.

Virat Kohli had the luxury to take time and settle as the opening partnership by Rohit Sharma (103) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (143*) gave a rollicking start to the team. The batter looked good and regained his touch as a stat showed that he had 90% control during his innings on Day 2.

With the way Virat Kohli and Indian batters were going, West Indies was forced to try different tactics as they introduced as many as 9 bowlers. But when opposition skipper Kraigg Brathwaite came to bowl, the premier batter saw something in his bowling action.

As Kraigg Brathwaite came to bowl the 79th over, Virat Kohli pointed out that the West Indies skipper is bowling illegally as his action is not up to mark. The batter was heard saying, “Batta phenk raha hai” which translates to English “He is throwing the ball”.

Notably, this is not the first time, Kraigg Brathwaite has been accused of illegal bowling action. It was during India’s tour to West Indies in 2019 when he was reported for illegal action. But ICC gave him a clear chit a few months later and was allowed to bowl again following some tests.

IND vs WI: India in the top position at the end of Day 2 at Dominica

After being asked to bowl first, India was top-notch with the ball as both pacers, as well as spinners, bowled good lines and lengths, testing the opposition batters. Ravichandran Ashwin was the star with the bat as he picked up a five-wicket haul. Ravindra Jadeja complimented him well and picked three wickets that helped India bundle out the hosts for 150 runs.

After that, Rohit Sharma (103) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (143*) set the stage on fire and gave their side a rollicking side. Both the players scored centuries and stitched 229 runs in partnership. At stumps, India were 313/2 at the end of the day and was leading by 166 runs with Jaiswal and Virat Kohli (36*) at the crease.
