Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt led an attack on Indian head coach Rahul Dravid for India’s poor outing in the ongoing T20I series against West Indies. He said that the former Indian skipper doesn’t deserve to be a coach although he was World class player.

Rahul Dravid has been at the receiving end of a lot of skewering ever since the West Indies tour started. The former Indian skipper has been criticised a lot for his poor tactics and decisions, especially in the ODIs and the T20s.

In the ongoing T20 series, the Indian team has been poor with both bat and ball. They have lost both games and the on the verge of a series defeat against West Indies for the first time in 17 years. It’s fair to say that some of the decisions taken by the team management as well as on-field have cost India.

Salman Butt questioned the Indian team for not showing intent and highlighted how Hardik Pandya has been successful as a captain with Ashish Nehra as a coach. While calling Rahul Dravid slow, he raised a call to include the GT head coach in the Indian team.

Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained: “Why is this Indian team not showing enough intent? Hardik Pandya has achieved a lot of success with Gujarat Titians because of Ashish Nehra’s presence. India must show more intent in T20Is, and a coach plays a big role in that.

“Rahul Dravid, no doubt, was a world-class player, but Dravid doesn’t deserve to be a coach in T20s. He is very slow. On the other hand, you see Ashish Nehra constantly do something and pass on messages in the field. I think he should get an opportunity.”

IND vs WI: When are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson? – Salman Butt

Salman Butt also lashed out at Sanju Samson for not cashing in the opportunities and admitted that he was among those who wanted to see the keeper batter getting consistent run.

He explained: “India rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that they could give others a chance, as many have complained that a few players haven’t had enough opportunities. Now that India have played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson? He has had enough chances now.

“I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn’t made the most of these chances.”

In the two games, Sanju Samson has amassed just 19 runs. He failed in both games and would be hoping to score big in the last three games.
