India batter Mayank Agarwal is eyeing a comeback in the Indian Cricket Team as he has set himself a goal to score truckloads of runs in the domestic circuit. He said that he wants to go and win games for his side and whatever has to come his way it will come.

Mayank Agarwal set the stage on fire when he made his debut for India in Test cricket. It seemed that the opening position in the Indian Test team is locked as he piled up truckloads of runs for the team and won matches for them.

But in 2022, Mayank Agarwal struggled to score runs and bagged consistent failures. In the meantime, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill grabbed the opportunity with both hands and eventually Agarwal saw himself getting omitted from the Indian Test team after playing Test against Sri Lanka in 2022.

Mayank Agarwal however didn’t lose faith as he went back to the domestic circuit and ended Ranji Trophy 2023 as the leading run-getter. He’s currently playing in Duleep Trophy 2023 and would be hoping to assert his authority there as well.

Mayank Agarwal said that he doesn’t take any pressure and his primary focus is just to score runs for the team and make them.

Speaking to TOI, he explained: “See, I am somebody who does not think too much about it. I have been dealt a hand and I don’t have much control on what hand I have been dealt with. On every given opportunity, I want to go out there, score runs and win games. Whatever has to come its way, it will come.

“I don’t look at it as pressure, as I look at it as an opportunity. I play with a lot of intensity. I am a very intense character. But off the field I am relaxed. I know how to switch off with the Vipasana (a breathing exercise) and as you said being a father also adds a bit to it.”

Mayank Agarwal further went on to say that he’s happy with the way he’s batting and the Duleep Trophy 2023 final is of the utmost importance to him.

He talked about his batting and explained: “I am very happy with the way I am batting through the last domestic season. I am glad that I am able to pile on runs on tough tracks. It is something that I am proud of. Even in the semifinals (Duleep Trophy) we were in a spot of bother and getting those runs was nice as the wicket was not the easiest.”

“It is of utmost importance. For me, as a player, I play to win and that is the intensity | play with and all of us are putting in the hard yards. The semifinal game was very tight and you could see that winning that match meant a lot to everyone,” he stated.

Mayank Agarwal scored 28 runs off 47 balls in the semi-final and would be looking to make it big in the final.
