Bangladesh will take on India in the second and final test of the two-match series, which begins on Thursday, December 22 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The Men in Blue won the first test by 188 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Bangladesh fast-bowling coach Allan Donald wants his bowlers to take inspiration from the England pacers in Pakistan.

Donald used the example of the English bowling unit and their mindset in Pakistan. England’s seamers took 26 wickets at an average of 24.07 to help England win the Test series against Pakistan 3-0. Fast bowling won’t get much help in Mirpur due to the nature of the pitch, but Donald believes that short bursts of aggressive bowling are the way to go, similar to India’s quick performances in Chattogram.

You Can Put Everything On The Table For Four Overs – Allan Donald

Allan Donald urged Bangladesh’s pace bowlers to be aggressive and hit the deck hard against India. Donald suggested that bowlers bowl short and full for longer periods of time and put everything on the table for four overs.

“I have always used the reference of the England fast bowlers’ mindset in Pakistan. How they get themselves involved in the contest. Despite three spinners, you have a free ride to be a bit more expansive as a quick. You can bowl short and full for longer. You can put everything on the table for four overs,” said Donald as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“If you saw how (Mohammed) Siraj or Umesh (Yadav) bowled (in Chattogram), they either went very short and attacking. They had people in catching positions. The ball was slightly reversing. You know what you will get with a spinner, so we want to see us being a little more attacking. It is not easy to duck on these pitches, so if you have a bit of pace, you can be a little more expansive and aggressive,” added Donald.

They Are The Prized Wickets – Allan Donald

Donald said India’s batsmen will be eyeing big scores after missing out in Chattogram. The former South Africa pacer said he was also aware that India have a couple of batters up their sleeves, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who don’t give many chances to bowlers.

“They are the prized wickets. It is like when (Sachin) Tendulkar walks to the crease, you know the value of getting it right is absolutely paramount. When the great (Virat) Kohli steps up, you miss a chance against him, you suffer. They don’t give many chances after that. I thought we were very good against Kohli and KL (Rahul),” added Donald.

Taijul Islam dismissed Kohli with a beauty in the first innings in Chattogram, while the former India captain remained unbeaten on 19 in the second. The stand-in skipper KL Rahul struggled in the first Test, scoring only 22 and 23 in two innings.
