Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s former coach, thinks Rohit Sharma’s slumping at the plate is a major issue for the Indian cricket team.
The second One-Day International (ODI) between Bangladesh (BAN) and India (IND) will take place on December 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

In the match, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 186 runs. Bangladesh won the low-scoring thriller with one wicket remaining to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

“His form is very key in white-ball cricket”: Rajkumar Sharma
Rajkumar stressed that Rohit’s disappointing batting performances might have an impact on his captaincy during a conversation on India News Sports. He predicted that the opener’s head would be quite cluttered because he needs to reflect heavily on his own efforts after a streak of subpar performances.
Rajkumar Sharma said that when the captain himself has fallen short, the team’s confidence will inevitably suffer.
“Yes, Rohit Sharma’s lack of form is one of the reasons we have struggled. But that is not the only reason. We have also been weak in various other areas. His form is critical in white-ball cricket because it gives India a good start,” Rajkumar Sharma said.
“If the captain is suffering, there may be turmoil in the locker room. He cannot be forceful in such instances since he will be concerned about his own batting as well as the team. It has an impact on the team’s atmosphere,” Rajkumar Sharma Added.
Rohit Sharma has featured in seven ODI matches this year and has mustered 198 runs at an average of 33.00.
