Indian Cricket Team is all set to clash against Bangladesh in the 1st Test Match commencing from 14th March (Wednesday). The 1st Test Match is going to be played at Chattogram. The Men in Blue would be aiming to take revenge for the ODI Series defeat.
Bangladesh would be keen to spoil the party of India as they are out of the race for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23). India is placed in 4th position with a percentile of 52.08 as they have to make sure that they register thumping victories against Bangladesh to get closer to the WTC final.
Rohit Sharma Unavailable for 1st Test Match
Rohit Sharma had injured his left thumb in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. The skipper has been advised by the BCCI’s medical team to not participate in the 1st Test Match. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named the replacement for Rohit Sharma for the 1st Test Match.
Injury Concerns for Management
Along with Rohit Sharma, the likes of Mohammad Shami & Ravindra Jadeja are too injured. The speedster Navdeep Saini & Saurabh Kumar have been named the replacement for the Test Series. Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be worried as now the squad looks a bit fragile with 3 senior players unavailable for selection.
The Men in Blue would be banking on Virat Kohli to lead the batting line up as his last Test Century came against Bangladesh in 2019. It would be interesting to see how the 1st Test Match pans out as we can expect riveting action as now both the teams are evenly matched.
