Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo stated on Tuesday that a decision on Shakib al Hasan’s participation in the first Test against India, which will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, will be taken later in the evening after examining the all-rounder.

Shakib has been the center of attention in ZACs since the morning. He left the practice ground to get his ribs examined after being injured by Umran Malik in the recently finished ODI series in Dhaka.

According to Cricbuzz, Shakib had a scan in Dhaka and nothing serious was discovered. However, the all-rounder wants to get a second opinion on Tuesday because he is still feeling good in his ribs.

“It’s nothing serious, but because there were no other options, he was sent in an ambulance. He (Shakib) complained of stiffness and went to the doctor “On Tuesday, a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

Shakib returned to the arena after 30 minutes and even decided to participate in a 16-minute net session. Before accepting throwdowns from Jamie Siddons, he batted for ten minutes against the spinners.

“Shakib al Hasan is still struggling with his ribs”: Domingo

Domingo stated during the pre-game news conference that they are unsure of Shakib’s availability for the first Test against India as Shakib was practicing his batting in the nets.

“We’re still evaluating him, and we’ll call later this afternoon to make sure he’s okay. He’s still having some issues with his ribs and shoulders. Hopefully, he’ll be able to continue hitting balls and then go check how he’s doing this afternoon “Domingo told reporters on Tuesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Taskin Ahmed won’t be taking part in the first Test, Domingo has confirmed. The bowler sustained a back injury, thus the team had to rest him for the first two One-Day Internationals of the three-match series against India.

“We’re not going to risk Taskin in the first Test, He has returned from a layoff and a few injections. Getting him to bowl for a day and a half in Chattogram under these conditions may not be beneficial for him” Russell Domingo remarked.

The Indian cricket team will face Bangladesh in the first Test match on Thursday, December 14th.
