Indian Cricket Team had won the toss and opted to bat first in the 1st Test Match against Bangladesh. India went with 3 spinners in the playing 11: Ashwin, Axar and Kuldeep which was quite surprising given Shardul Thakur’s wicket-taking ability and batting prowess.

The Men in Blue had a shocking start to their innings as they lost 3 wickets in the first session for 85 runs. The former skipper Virat Kohli was undone by the sheer brilliance of Taijul Islam where Kohli managed to score 1 run in 5 balls. KL Rahul would be utterly disappointed with his performance as the batter once again failed to make the most of a start.

Given the pitch-assisting spinners, India would be aiming for a 1st innings score in excess of 300. All eyes would be on Cheteshwar Pujara who has looked solid in his approach to bat deep as he has the knack of playing long and effective innings.

The right-handed batter Ajinkya Rahane surprisingly failed to make it to the Bangladesh squad. Rahane earlier missed England Test Match in July due to an injury. The batter has had a topsy-turvy career so far but we should not forget that he has been a vital cog in Indian setup.
