India National Cricket Team were off to a fabulous start in the match as they managed to reduce Bangladesh to 69/6 in 19 overs, with Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Umran Malik bowling brilliantly.

Sundar picked up the wickets of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Afif Hossain, Siraj dismissed Anamul Haque and Litton Das, while Umran Malik cleaned up Najmul Hossain Shanto.

However, last game’s hero Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who snatched the game from the jaws of defeat, and veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah put on a batting exhibition that shifted the momentum towards Bangladesh. They had a 148-run partnership in 165 balls, which is the highest seventh-wicket stand against India by any team in the history of ODIs.

Umran Malik managed to break the outstanding partnership between the Bangladesh duo with the help of a remarkable catch from wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Malik dismissed Mahmudullah in the 47th over and he scored 77 runs off 96 balls, including 7 fours.

However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten, looked unstoppable, and slammed his maiden century off 83 balls and his innings comprised 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Bangladesh were able to post 271/7 with the help of Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s ton, Mahmudullah’s stunning fifty, and Nasum Ahmed’s handy cameo. Notably, in the death overs, Bangladesh dominated and smashed 68 runs in the last five overs.

During the run-chase, Rohit Sharma didn’t come out to open the innings because of a thumb injury that he sustained while fielding in the slip cordon in the first innings of the match.

India were off to the worst possible start as both the openers – Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan – were dismissed inside 3 overs. Also, Washington Sundar, who was promoted to No.4, scored just 11 before getting out in the 10th over.

India’s vice-captain KL Rahul (14), who performed brilliantly in the first game, became the first wicket of the star performer Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 19th over.

After losing 4 wickets, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel showcased a batting masterclass and built a wonderful 107-run partnership in 101 balls. The partnership was broken by none other than Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who dismissed Shreyas Iyer in the 35th over.

The 28-year-old Iyer, who has been highly consistent in ODIs in 2022, amassed 82 runs off 102 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. In the 39th over, Ebadot Hossain sent back all-rounder Axar Patel, who played a brilliant 56-run innings off 56 balls.
