India National Cricket Team batter Hanuma Vihari has said that registering a victory in the series in England after a series win in Australia will be “icing on the cake”.
India will play the 5th and last Test match of the series against England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. The 5th rescheduled Test match will be played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham from Friday, July 1 and India are leading the series by 2-1.

Hanuma Vihari, while speaking at the launch of ‘Bandon main tha dum’ a docu-series on India’s 2020-21 heroic Test series win in Australia, said that he was playing cricket in Dhaka and Chennai to stay match fit during the Indian Premier League 2022.
“So I went to Dhaka and played 50 overs cricket after a while. After that I went to Chennai and played five two-day games. I have tried to play as many games as possible to stay match fit,”Vihari said, speaking at the trailer launch event of ‘Bandon Me Tha Dum’ by Voot Select.
Vihari has played only 3 Tests after his historic knock in Sydney where he batted for 3 hours with Grade 2 tear to script draw. However, he has said that he doesn’t think about the past and future and his focus is on the present.
“I don’t think of the past and the future. I only think about that Test match that I play. I try to keep it as simple as possible. Try my best to succeed. If I can’t, I go back and try to do it again in the next opportunity,” he said.
It’s come to a climax now – Hanuma Vihari on the England Test series
Vihari got the opportunity to bat at No.3, in the absence of Cheteshwar Pujara, in the Test series against Sri Lanka at home and he said that it was a great opportunity for him.
“It was a great opportunity. To bat at No.3 for India is a privilege and I enjoyed the two matches that I played in,” he said.
“I am quite comfortable to bat in whichever position the team wants me to bat in. I have been coming up and down the order. At the end of the day, you just have to adapt. For me, it’s only the situation of the game that changes,” he said.
Meanwhile, the 5th Test battle between India and England will have new captains this time as Ben Stokes has replaced Joe Root as captain while Rohit Sharma has replaced Virat Kohli as skipper.
Vihari said that the series has come to its climax and winning the series will be an important landmark for India.
“It feels like a sequel. You have played one year ago and now you are playing the final Test. It’s come to a climax now. It’s an important landmark for us to win a Test series in England. After winning in Australia, to win in England will be the icing on the cake. Everyone is aware of it and gearing up to try and win the Test and the series.”
