India’s performance in overseas ODIs has been abysmal till they won the series against England here on Sunday.

India had lost to New Zealand 3-0 in 2020, 2-1 in Australia and 3-0 in South Africa. So this series victory will give them some confidence going into upcoming white ball games.

India had a lot of positives to take from this series as Hardik Pandya performed both with the bat and ball. Rishabh Pant too hit his first ODI century in the last game.

Virat Kohli’s performance may still be a concern but that won’t bother India for some time.

Shikhar Dhawan’s performance may worry India though considering he will captain India against West Indies.

But Rohit Sharma would be a happy man as Indian bowlers did well too. India won an ODI series in England for just the 3rd time, the last one was in 2014 under MS Dhoni.

Hardik Pandya And Yuzvendra Chahal Have Been Great Since Making Their Comeback Into The Side: Rohit Sharma

After the game, he said, “Very pleased. We came here and wanted to achieve something as a group in white-ball, and we did. Moving forward there are things we need to improve but are pleased with the effort. We were here last time and we were beaten I remember. It is not easy to place to come and win games but the way we played the entire white-ball leg was fantastic. Wanted to do it for a long period of time, and to achieve it was brilliant.

It was a good pitch, but we knew it won’t be easy if we lost wickets early. It happened, but the positive is that these guys haven’t batted a long period in the middle overs and we got to see that from Rishabh and Hardik. Both of them were clinical – at no point did we feel they were panicking. They played great cricketing shots.

Chahal is a critical member, has so much experience, bowling in all sorts of formats. It was unfortunate that he missed the last T20 World Cup, but I’m pleased with how he has returned. Hardik as well, used the dimension well while bowling. One side was long and used the bouncers well.

On the failure of the top order in the series, Rohit said, “Not really. But we do understand that it is something we need to look into. We played some not-so-good shots and that’s what cost us wickets. But I still back those guys to come out good because they’ve done it for a long time. I’ve got nothing more to say since I understand the quality they bring to the team.”

Rohit Sharma is resting from the ODI series against the West Indies which starts on 22nd July.
