“Surya’s knock was not just bravado but also a lot about the game sense, knowing where the fielders were, and where the bowlers were likely to bowl. He’s India’s very own Mr. 360 degrees,” Chopra said exclusively on the Koo app.
Despite losing the match, India won the T20I series against England 2-1. In the encounter, England hammered 215 in 20 overs as Dawid Malan and Liam Livingston wreaked havoc on Indian bowlers.
Chasing 216, India got off to a shaky start, losing skipper Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and Virat Kohli in the first five overs. Suryakumar’s amazing century (117) pulled India close to victory before falling to loss.
Suryakumar did not have the best of series against Ireland as he was making a comeback after an injury but before he had gotten injured in the IPL he was one of the shining lights for MI in what was a forgettable season for them.
Both teams will now face off in an ODI series beginning on Tuesday. Surya will hope to continue his good run in the ODIs, as well as India, looks all set to follow the same template of going aggressive with the bat in the 50-over format too.
