According to former England spinner Ashley Giles, India has “a true powerhouse of a T20 team” at their disposal that appears strong from top to bottom with an equally talented reserve.

India easily defeated England by 49 runs in the second Twenty20 International to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

It’s A Real Powerhouse Team: Ashley Giles

“It’s a real powerhouse T20 team India have available,” Giles told ‘ESPNCricinfo’.

Similar tactics were used by the visitors to win the last T20I. Without prominent players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant, India had won the first game of the series by a margin of 50 runs.

“India look a really strong unit from the top to the bottom. If you look at the changes from the first T20I to this one (second T20I). You could have easily played that team and the result would have been similar,” Giles said.

“You look at that bowling attack, it was incredibly strong.” India displayed a start-to-finish aggressive mindset in both T20 matches despite losing wickets, which eventually served as the winning formula.

“You got to keep pressuring bowlers. Some time bowlers can have their days but no matter how many wickets you lose you have to keep going and get as many runs as you can and this India side is more the capable of doing that,” Australia will host the T20 World Cup between October and November.

India Win T20 Series After Back To Back Wins

India reached 49 in 4.5 overs after Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant were sent in, with the latter opening for the first time in T20Is. In the middle overs, England regained control as debutant Richard Gleeson removed Rohit, Virat Kohli, and Pant in the span of ten deliveries.

Visitors were reduced to 89 for 5 in the 11th over as Chris Jordan struck out Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya with consecutive deliveries. Axar Patel was replaced in the lineup by Ravindra Jadeja, who subsequently hit an unbeaten 46 off 29 balls to lead them to 170 for 8.

India dismissed England for 121 in the second T20I at Edgbaston, with the help of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s three-wicket haul, Jasprit Bumrah’s two wickets, and Yuzvendra Chahal’s two each, giving visitors an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
