IND vs ENG: Ravindra Jadeja Was The Hero's Brother On Day 1, Where Rishabh Pant Scored 146 Runs – Ex-India Opener Aakash Chopra

Former India opener Aakash Chopra showered praise on the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and said that he was the “hero’s brother” on Day 1 of the Test against England where young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant smashed a sensational ton.

On Day 2 of the Edgbaston Test, Jadeja smashed his third century in Test cricket. He amassed 104 runs off 194 balls, including 13 fours, before being dismissed by James Anderson. Also, he had added 222 runs with Pant on Day 1 to help India make a comeback.

Notably, Pant scored an 89-ball century and was dismissed by Joe Root in the 67th over after scoring 146 runs off 111 balls, including 19 fours and 4 sixes.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that the young wicketkeeper-batsman Pant is a kind of batter who will always have the limelight on him because of his destructive style of batting. He elaborated:

“Let’s start with Ravindra Jadeja because Sir Jadeja has struck a century. He was the hero’s brother yesterday (on Day 1), where Rishabh Pant scored 146 runs in 110-odd balls. He (Pant) was just that rockstar.

“When Rishabh Pant is on the ground and plays like that, you can make anyone stand at the other end – it could be Virat, Rohit or Jadeja – the limelight will be on Rishabh Pant only because he plays like that, he is destructive.”

Chopra further said that the England captain Ben Stokes is considered the world’s best all-rounder, but Jadeja is not behind him in the race. He added that Jadeja has been consistently scoring runs and picking wickets for India.

He asserted: “When you look at Ravindra Jadeja closely, you will find, what an all-rounder. We talk about Ben Stokes as the world’s best all-rounder at the moment but how is Jadeja behind.

“Batting – he is continuously scoring runs, important runs and picks up a lot of wickets as well.

“But the way he bats, I remember the hundreds which seem to be par for the course, that’s Ravindra Jadeja, there is nothing extraordinary about it and that’s the thing that makes it special. You feel that he plays like that only and he has no problems.”
