Nasser Hussain, a former England skipper, claimed Jasprit Bumrah to be the best all-format bowler right now. He made this after the Indian pacer’s outstanding performance against England in the first ODI on July 12 at the Oval.

Hussain praised the right-arm seamer’s outstanding performance and noted that a few deliveries were unplayable.

Bumrah, who won “Player of the Match” awards, bowled an outstanding spell to help India win by 10 wickets. The 28-year-old finished with final stats of 7.2-3-19-6, destroying the top order for the home team. India was able to restrict the hosts to only 110 runs in 25.2 overs because of his effort.

Three of the top four batsmen for England were dismissed for ducks as they lost five wickets for 26 runs. The hosts now have something to bowl at after Buttler’s best score of 30. The English bowlers had no chance against Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, though. In 18.4 overs, the partnership finished the chase, with Sharma scoring 76 off 58 balls.

‘India was far too good with the individual performances’: Nasser Hussain

Nasser Hussain acknowledged in his column for Sky Sports that England had no chance of winning the game and that it ended up being a one-sided affair. According to the 54-year-old, Bumrah is presently only really challenged by a small number of bowlers worldwide.

“From the first to the last ball, the game was completely lopsided. With the individual exploits of Bumrah, Rohit, and Dhawan, India was just too strong. England simply was not good enough to compete against India’s brilliance.”

“Bumrah is without a doubt the best all-round bowler in the world. Who would be the rivals? Trent Boult, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Jofra Archer, when available. But for the time being, he is the best there is,” Nasser Hussain added.

The second One-Day International (ODI) will begin on July 14 at Lord’s, with India looking to wrap up the series following their victory in the T20 leg.
